Sign of the Times:

How does one form a sense of identity?  The Memorial City District has solidified its unique sense of place with the installation of new street signs.  This one of a kind street sign design is rich with color, easy to read and includes the Memorial City District star logo.  The signs are up everywhere except on Gessner, which is undergoing a renovation.  The contractor for the road reconstruction will install the signs at the end of the project.

Pillars of the Community:

Another amenity to compliment the Memorial City District's new sense of identity are the gateway markers being errected at the corners of IH-10 at Gessner and Bunker Hill.  The four obelisks, two at each intersection, consist of three parts - a concrete base with a beautiful stone facade, an impressive steel tower as the core and an illuminated top equipped with LED lights.  The structures will stand five stories and weigh 32 thousand pounds a piece when complete in September, 2009.
