The District has also taken on projects to implement the environmental design guidelines. As part of TxDOT’s Katy Freeway expansion, the District has developed hardscape and landscape plans for the Gessner and Bunker Hill overpasses. The enhancements include unique retaining wall designs, colored pavers, dramatic pylons, and special trees and shrubs with dedicated irrigation systems. All together, these enhancements will help the expanded Katy Freeway to blend with the already distinct look of the area.
